The Giving Challenge: How we can meet our financial goal

Posted on November 5, 2009

Let’s face it, $120,000 is a lot of money to raise in 4 months  . . . on your own.  HOWEVER, collectively, as a body, it may not be all that difficult.  We have somewhere around 120 families that call the Maryville Vineyard their church home.  And it’s going to take all of those families to make this happen – this truly will require a group effort.  Think about it, if we all took on the personal goal to give $1,000 to the building fund over the next 4-5 months, our goal would be reached.  Just like that.  Of course, not everyone has $1,000 to give.  But, some can give $300 and some can give $3,000.  And, some can give $500 and some can give $5000.  If we all give, it all works out.  Collectively, we can do this!  But, it will take all of us.  Please pray about how you can reach your $1,000 challenge.  Maybe you can give more to make up for those who can’t.  And maybe you can’t, but with a little creativity you can.  Here are some ideas that people have told us that they are doing:  have a garage sale, ask friends and family, sell some stuff on Craigslist, turn off your cable, give up dining out, babysit, the ramen noodle diet, etc.  Again, this is not about the quantity of money that people can give, this will be about the quantity of people who participate in giving.  Please pray about this and take on this challenge.  Remember to give in the way the Bible tells us to: Radically, Sacrificially, and Spirit-led.
